Saints, Rise Up
#1. Saints vs. 32 & 41
- Who we are determines what we do!
- Truth determine direction. What we believe directs how we live. As Jesus people (Truth) this is what we do (direction)
- Saint: A person who belongs to God; set apart, holy.
- The same word in Acts 7:33, sandals off, “holy ground”
- The encouragements I have for you are based on this!
- Saints, rise up and be saints!
#2. Rise up, Vs. 32-35
- God heals.
- We believe God heals today.
- When human faith collides with God, there is healing.
- Saints, rise up and be healed!
- He heals spiritually, physically, emotionally,
- Spiritually, He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
- Physically, Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.
- Emotionally, And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:14-16
- God heals holistically, if not here, then in eternity.
- Holistically, And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:3–5
*Saints, rise up and be healed!
-Why healing? vs. 35
- What about when you’re not healed?
- I don’t want you to feel like something is wrong with you OR your relationship with God if you arenot healed.
- So why did “everyone” seem to get healed in Acts?
- The Gospel introduced brings miracles
As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:1–5
- Spits, makes mud and heals the guy!
- If healing if for the purpose of God / His Glory
- Our suffering, or our lack of healing is for the purpose of God
So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:7–10
- See point #1. Saints, Rise up and be Saints
- Grace is sufficient!
C. Saints, Rise Up and be Available! Vs. 38-39a
- What if God wants to heal through you? Raise the dead? At what point does your discipleship go from you focused to others focused?
D. Saints, Rise Up from the Dead! Vs. 39b-41
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. Romans 6:6
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. Romans 6:13
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3–4
